Otto Carl Durrschmidt (1871 – 1922)
Otto Dürrschmidt established a bow making workshop in Markneukirchen, Germany in 1894. Although dying young, he left a legacy of a bow making family with his descendants continuing the tradition even today, albeit with a brief respite from 1963-1990. During that time the workshop was absorbed by the East German state - run PGH Sinfonia company. The Dürrschmidt family managed to reacquire it after the fall of communism. Dürrschmidt bows are of excellent quality and the company enjoys a very good reputation.
