Gregory T. Walke 2002 (CA012) - $25,000 Canadian
Greg Walke is recognized as one of Canada's finest violin and cello makers. He trained at the Welsh School of Violinmaking before working under master makers and restorers in Europe, most notably under Hieronymus Koestler of Stuttgart.
On returning to Canada in 1988, Greg and his wife, fellow maker Sibylle Ruppert, established their own workshop in Paisley, rural Ontario. Though also an accomplished restorer, Greg now focuses exclusively on making his own instruments, which have been played by leading musicians including Yosuke Kawasaki, David Hetherington, and Gerald Stanick.
This 2002 cello, built on a Stradivari model, is in fine condition. It was played for many years by a local musician and instructor.
The length of back is 760mm. High resolution photos available on request.
